Alpha Holden married Ella by following a witch's prophecy regarding fated mates. After they wed, Ella works tirelessly to help him manage the pack. However, Holden mistakenly believes she only married him for the title of Luna, leading him to deeply resent her. He maintains an ambiguous relationship with his childhood sweetheart Ivy, whose manipulations cause him to repeatedly misunderstand his wife. Just as Ella discovers she is pregnant, she catches Holden kissing Ivy and overhears him saying he wants to get rid of her unborn child. Utterly heartbroken, she divorces him to protect her baby and leaves the pack. Meanwhile, she discovers her true identity as a wolf princess.
